Asha Ghar Women Center has been working with destitute women by training them in making hand crafts
and providing opportunities for them to use these skills to make a living allowing them to support
themselves and their children.
most of the women at Asha Ghar Women Center are from rural villages from the gorka district are
widows or have been abandoned by their husbands. being a single woman in nepal brings social
stigma and exclusion, therefore making if extremely difficult to gain employment and raise children.
Asha Ghar Women Center has trained more than 50 women in the last 3 years in knitting, crocheting,
embroidery and sewing, making it possible for them to earn money for their families working either
for the Asha Ghar Women Center or for other handicraft making centers in the region.
a margin of sales from products made at the Asha Ghar Women Center goes to a clinic and child center
in gaikhur village which supports impoverished women and children by providing them free medical
check ups and medicine.
